Description
Spicy Grilled or Broiled Fish
This grilled fish recipe is flavorful, slightly spicy, and perfect for a healthy meal. The combination of lime, ginger, and cayenne adds zest while keeping the fish light and juicy. It can be cooked on a charcoal grill or under the broiler, depending on your preference.
Ingredients:
- Juice of 1 lime
- 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Fish steaks or fillets (about 1 pound)
Instructions:
- Prepare the marinade: In a bowl, combine the lime juice, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, ginger, cayenne pepper, and black pepper. Adjust the amount of black pepper to your taste preference.
- Marinate the fish: Place the fish steaks or fillets in the marinade, ensuring each piece is well coated. Let the fish marinate for 45–60 minutes, turning the pieces 2–3 times to allow the flavors to penetrate evenly.
- Prepare the grill: Light your grill using white coals and brush the cooking grate with the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil to prevent sticking.
- Grill the fish: Place the fish on the hot grill. Cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the fish and heat of the coals.
- Optional broiling method: Preheat the broiler and brush a broiler pan with oil. Place the fish on the pan and broil for about 10 minutes total, turning after 5 minutes. Baste frequently with the marinade to keep the fish moist.
This method produces tender, flavorful fish with a light kick of spice. Serve with a fresh salad, grilled vegetables, or rice for a healthy, satisfying meal.
